The Orange County Register has an article today in their Marketplace section about a second Taco Rosa opening soon (it'll be easier for me to get to at lunch) and some additions to the Taco Mesa menu. I'm not going to tell you all the details so go and read it. The print edition mentions that there will be more on this story in Friday's paper.

For the first time ever I saw a Taco Mesa coupon in the mail yesterday. Looks like there's some good deals on it so if you missed it yesterday there is a good chance it'll be in next month's coupon mailer.

UPDATE (July 21, 2006):

Today's new Orange County Register article on the Taco Mesa/Taco Rosa chain, which explains their expansion plans and why chicharrones are not on the menu, can be read here.

We have a ton of coverage of each Taco Mesa and Taco Rosa (including almost a hundred photos) which can be seen by clicking on either of their labels below:

  1. mmm good news on the taco rosa opening. i've been to the other one once but it's just too far from my house to be worth it. as to taco mesa being the 'in n out' of mexican food, i'm not so sure that's a good thing. we switched over to taco adobe a while back, tis in my opinion, the best nuevo-mex in the county.

  2. The article did not say that Taco Mesa is the In-N-Out of Mexican food. It said that the owner of the chain thought that that's how the coming Taco Mesa Express locations would be perceived.

Went to one of your recommendations last night and liked it. Now I'm going to have to get to Taco Adobe. There's room in my heart for multiple restaurants.

  4. I notice that the review where Gustavo said great things about Taco Adobe is the same one where he initially panned Taleo. Can't find a site for Taco Adobe, but from the description Gustavo gives it sounds good -- and reinforced by the serrach, too. Now I want to go too!
