Here's a very authentic Mexican lunch truck ("lonchera") that can be found at the intersection of Sterling and Holland in Irvine, just off of Muirlands Blvd. Its hours are approximately 7:30am - 2:30pm during the week. I wouldn't have known about it if it weren't pointed out to me by a faithful reader. I haven't been able to find a single thing about this truck online so far.
I've made a number of trips there and have always engaged in conversation with the friendly owner (Armando?). And I've always seen people driving up and talking with the owner as though they've known him forever. You've got to ask him what they are cooking each day because it varies.

Griffin of Griffin Eats OC went with me on my last visit and got a carne asada taco, a lengua taco and a carnitas sope:
And I got a gordita (no, Taco Bell didn't invent gorditas; they are an authentic Mexican item):

ReplyDeleteThe" tacos de canasta" are the best...my husband loves those!!!! They are dipped in sauce and have all the fixins....two of those will set u straight :)

ReplyDeleteYou have to try her Tamales on Thursdays, and the Birria on Fridays!! The BEST!!! and if you like the ceviche just wait till you try the coctel de camaron!! But hurry because Armando and Blanca will be retiring as of this Friday Sep 8th 2017!
