I'm backlogged now with about five reviews to post so the next several entries might be heavy on pictures and light on words.
Met up for lunch at Lindo Michoacan #2 (Does that translate into "The Second Handsome Mexican"?) with my friends Bert and Lori and their son Thomas. The restaurant is a little takeout place but the employees seem more than happy to come to your table to take your order and serve you.
Bert ordered the Chicken Enchiladas:
Thomas politely allowed us to take pictures while we made funny faces on him:
Lori enjoyed her Chicken Taco Salad before jetting back to work:
I had an excellent fish taco a la carte:
I tried ordering the Pozole soup but was told they only have that on Wednesdays (guess my next visit will be on a Wednesday), so I went for the Albondigas soup instead:
They gave me lots of rice and cilantro and onions to throw in and limes to squeeze into the soup so of course I went for the gusto and put it all in.
Their menu only lists two types of aguas frescas but it appears that they don't limit themselves to what the menu mentions. On the day of this visit they had pineapple, mango, and horchata.
I would like to give Lindo Michoacan #2 a four and a quarter Speedy Gonzales rating but for now I will give it four Speedy Gonzaleses and one Panchito. The Panchito is a reward to them for putting lots of pictures on their menu, which is a big help to visually oriented people such as myself:
That albondigas soup looks awesome. Hey, do you know where to get really good menudo in OC? Been dyin' for more since I tried my first bowl this past November in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteIn mi lindo michoacan 2....on saturdays and sundays..with home made tortillas
Deletemichoacan is a state in mexico, a very beautiful one at that. in part there are pine forests and chilly evenings. que lindo indeed.
ReplyDeleteI like it: Comments from El and Elmo. Thanks for the clarification, El. I probably knew somewhere in the back of my mind that Michoacan was a state in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI believe this very restaurant has menudo but maybe only on certain days. It could be that whether a place serves menudo or not is proof positive of their authenticity. I would say most independent joints in Santa Ana have it.
Fresh Menudo 7 days a week and now Pozole to.
DeleteThanks for the info, Adrian.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martin. Just added this info to our menudo entry.
