I've written about Rasta Taco before and their taco cart catering services but they have now opened a bona fide walk-in restaurant. I'll write more about it once I make a visit there but for now their official press release follows:

Following on the heels of the tremendous success of its mobile taco cart operation, Rasta Taco launches its first reggae-inspired restaurant location idealizing Rasta Taco's founder Mario Melendez' dream. Rasta Taco Catering is still Southern California's premiere mobile taco cart catering company.

"We have a full menu for the entire family," says Founder Mario Melendez. "Our fast-take-out style restaurant combined with the Rasta Taco style motif will certainly please the palate as well as the senses."

The store, maintaining a very focused look true to both Jamaica/Rasta and Mexico, combines elements of Mexico and Jamaica culinary plates.

From the "Lee Scratch Breakfast Burrito" to the "Peter Burrito" to the "Pato Potato Taco" to the "Halie Salise Taco Salad," all are original plates made with Rasta Taco's signature blend of secret spices and marinades. Michael DeSimone, Partner and Head Chef, has over 10 years experience in the kitchen and his original recipes can be eaten at the Restaurant or enjoyed at home.

  2. Hi
I just wanted to leave a quick follow-up to Rasta Taco.

I went there on last weekend with my boyfriend. It is super easy to find of the 5 in a great neighborhood. It was sunny so we sat outside where there are about 3-4 tables available.

Ned had the "Bob" tacos in chicken, carnitas and carne. He really liked the chicken and carnitas.

I had 2 shrimp "Shabba". I made 1 a combo with rice and beans. The beans are good (different then the usual mush you get or black beans) the rice was ok (not to much flavor) but it went well with the beans. they offer free refills on pop as well!

Ned also had the fish "Shabba" and enjoyed it as well.

The guy at the counter was super nice. There was a comfy vibe there and it was super clean. A couple locals stopped in and got food while we were there to.

My only complaint...i have to drive 70 miles round trip to get here--but i can make that trip at least once a month.Open on in HB please :)

I want to get back to try the breakfast and some other goodies! I've been telling everyone about it!
