Welcome to my blog for reviewing the best Mexican restaurants and food in Orange County, CA. I intend to cover as many as I can . . . and all sorts and price ranges: "From taco trucks to fine dining . . . and everything inbetween." Newer entries tend to focus on photos more than words. Number of restaurants covered so far: 268+. See The List

Gabbi's Quick Stop #10
It's been a while since I've been to Gabbi's so I stopped by yesterday for lunch and not much has changed but I did find out a couple things. For one, their salsa is spicier now. That will be good news to many people.
Two: they have a good duck confit quesadilla with a mole negro sauce on special right now.
Three: they now make all their ice creams and sorbets on-site. I tried the fried plantain ice cream seen above.
And, four: you can now purchase bottles of Gabbi's hot sauce. You can also order some online here or at Dean & DeLuca.

still like this place, but that last time I went (kind of on a whim) the host was reeeeeeaaaaallllly snippy about the fact that I did not have a reservation and was pretty rude all the way around. There are lots of places to eat at the circle and I might have made a reservation on the spot to come back in a few days and eaten somewhere else, but the attitude of the person at the door made my friend and I feel pretty unwelcome so we just left. The experience left a bad taste in the mouth of my friend, to whom I had spent quite a bit of time talking up the restaurant -- both the food and the service. She hasn't been back since. So, eat here, but the moral of the story is MAKE A RESERVATION.

That's interesting; I didn't even know they took reservations.
