Del Taco Breakfast Bowl

Tried one of the new Del Breakfast Bowls this morning:

DSCF5945

The Del Taco press release for this item calls it a "A hearty bowl of hash brown sticks, scrambled eggs, jalapeno bacon and topped with chili, sour cream, cheddar cheese and cilantro."

This may sound like an item that's high in calories (it has 500 calories) but they have a couple other breakfast items that have more calories. And if you make any Del Taco purchase soon they may (I can't personally guarantee it) give you one of these coupons for a free coffee with the purchase of a Del Breakfast Bowl:

UPDATE

Went back and got another one and got a little better picture this time:

Wow, that looks nothing like the picture Del Taco advertises.

Well, all the ingredients were there but they were hiding under a lot of sour cream and cilantro.

well how the heck was it?

I didn't have that much to say about it because it's made with ingredients they already use for other things. It was kind of like getting a breakfast burrito combo meal and throwing the flour tortilla away and mixing in the hash brown sticks. And I do get breakfast burritos and hash browns from them from time to time so it was a lot like that . . . plus lots of cilantro. Now I'm wondering what they typically put cilantro in.

Wow.... that's a lot of sour cream....*hurl*.

I tend to scoop sour cream off of almost anything I get. May picture may not be the best portrayal of this item because it really did have all the ingredients shown in the picture. They were just arranged differently.

I tried one of these over the weekend; thought it was a rather "well balanced" assortment of flavours. That jalapeƱo bacon was VERY salty, i thought - saltier than it was spicy, at least.

I'll probably stick with the macho breakfast burrito in the future; the bacon in that thing is a tad less salty, but often stringy and fatty. Yum! : )
