Roundup #9

This is going to be a quicker roundup entry than normal.

Mexican restaurants I have already reviewed that I've visited for non-review purposes since the last roundup include: Azteca's (FV and HB locations; a review of another visit of mine to their HB location is coming soon), Taco Rosa, Taleo (follow the link for a coupon and a deluxe review), Rubio's, Rancho del Zocalo, Javier's at the Irvine Spectrum (I was told that their Crystal Cove location is set to open in the summer or the fall of this year, but more likely the fall), Kantina (exceptional service this time), Baja Fish Tacos (the Irvine location), La Capilla, and Taco Bell (tried their new Steak Grilled Taquitos).

I've also been to Wahoo's twice and even though Wahoo's hasn't been reviewed here (yet) neither of those visits were for review purposes.

Non-Mexican restaurants I've eaten at since the last roundup entry include but are not limited to: Buca di Beppo, Funashin, Market Broiler, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen Express, The Old Spaghetti Factory, Elephant Bar, and the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store.

Food Blogger Meetup

Also participated in a food blogger meetup at Vien Dong in Garden Grove with Wandering Chopsticks, Rasa Malaysia, Chubby Panda, and ElmoMonster. Here's some of the Northern Vietnamese food we were served there:

Oddly enough, acouple days ago I was wondering if you eaten at a Wahoo's before.

If you haven't tried the blackened chicken enchiladas with green sauce I highly recommend them! (I get an extra side of green sauce or salsa and mix it with the beans and rice that come with a combo meal.

Parking at the Wahoo's at Jamboree and Michelson is horrible; same for the one on Bristol at lunchtime. I've been going to Wahoo's at South Coast Plaza West for the past couple months because parking and seating isn't a problem there.

/me has lots of Wahoo's love

Oh, yes, I've definitely been to Wahoo's before and many of their locations. My first encounter was in 1994. When I went a few days ago it was to the Irvine location you mentioned (yes, I had trouble parking there . . . again) and I got a Polynesian Shrimp Taco and an enchilada with green sauce but I can't remember if it was beef or chicken. Also got white beans for the second time. On all my other dozens of Wahoo's visits I always had black beans. Sometime I'll actually take a camera with me and get some pictures and do a review. Remember, we also take guest reviews.

I'll have to try the white beans the next time I go... it's been over a week since I've been there and I'm suffering serious Wahoo's withdrawl.

I'd offer to submit a guest review for, well, review, but I don't write at quite the entertaining-ness level that's required for food blogs.

Random comment: After I read your blog acouple weeks ago I happened to look in the business section of Monday's paper which I don't always do... I started reading an article and the journalist interviewed someone with a mexican food blog. It constantly amazes me what a small world the internet is.

That person they were interviewing was me.
