Chipotle, the chain owned by McDonalds, is the Mexican-ish version of Subway where you go through a line like you're a conveyor belt and tell the workers what you would like on your burrito. When I went on this visit with some co-workers it was very crowded but the line moved blindingly fast service, almost too fast. It sure made you feel like part of a rat race. Of course, if you go anywhere near South Coast Plaza for lunch during the week you can't help but feel that you are in a rat race. Some of the people appear to actually enjoy it.

Chipotle's signature item are their burritos but you can also get tacos . . . and chips that come in a brown paper lunch bag, and not much else. Their tomato salsa is pretty bland but their corn salsa is serviceable. Meat choices to fill your burrito, taco, or bowl with include chicken, steak, carnitas, barbacoa beef, and veggies. Their official site tells just about everything you could want to know about their filling and topping choices short of actually eating it. It even shows an aerial view of their topping containers.

Don't worry; he doesn't bite

My co-workers and I agreed that Chipotle earns a three and a half Speedy Gonzales rating:

they actually aren't owned by mcdonalds any more and were an independent restaurant until mdconald's made a large investment in them in the late 1990s.

i agree that the tomato salsa isn't that strong - but i think that's the point given that they have such tasty green, corn, and "hot" salsas. they need the mild for the sissies in the world. personally i get the tomato salsa mixed with hot.

I think burrito eater just clarified that it's not.

McDonalds completed a full divestment of it's Chi-Poodles shares by October of last year. The others in my office loves da-poodle, if I have to order with them I suddenly become a vegetarian, and get a Burrito "Bowl" with Black Beans, Corn Salsa, Hot Salsa, Rice, and the Chips...and it still costs me about seven bucks.....

Chi-Poodles: now there's a good nickname.

Glad to see Chipotle up here :)

I end up going here (the Northpark location) several times a week and I'm a huge fan.

Pretty fast food and I can keep it healthly (Chicken bowl with rice, beans, hot sauce, and guac!).

Here are a couple of sites worth checking out:

Thanks for the comment, Zovall, and the links to the fan sites and for linking to my blog from your blog (http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/). You've already driven some traffic my way and the visitors seem to be good about checking out a lot of the pages here.
